Tour de Habitat - Charity Bike Ride
Supporting the Danville-Pittsylvania County Habitat for Humanity

Please note the start location is different from last year:
Saturday, September 29th, 2007
The start will be at shelter # 17 in Dan Daniel Memorial Park, it is the main shelter near the playground and the soccer fields. Signs with arrows will lead you through the park from the entrance.

On site registration starts at 8:00 am the morning of the ride,

After returning from your ride enjoy a free massage and lunch!

Directions to Dan Daniel Memorial Park - Danville, VA:

From the north: Driving south on the Rt 29 Expressway, take the Dan Daniels Park exit (the next exit past Hwy 58).  Turn right at the top of the exit onto River Park Dr which leads into Dan Daniel Memorial Park.
From the south: Driving north on the Rt 29 Expressway, take the Dan Daniels Park exit (the next exit past Goodyear Blvd). Turn left at the top of the exit onto River Park Dr which leads into Dan Daniel Memorial Park.
From the east: Driving west on Hwy 58, turn left onto Airport Rd, at the airport.  Continue down this road and it will turn sharply to the right where it then changes to Stinson Dr. Take a right onto River Park Dr which leads into Dan Daniel Memorial Park.
From the west: Driving east on Hwy 58,  take the Rt 29 Expressway before you reach the City of Danville and continue to head north. Driving north on the Rt 29 Expressway, take the Dan Daniels Park exit (the next exit past Goodyear Blvd). Turn left at the top of the exit onto River Park Dr which leads into Dan Daniel Memorial Park.

Danville-Pittsylvania Co. Habitat for Humanity invites all who would like to ride a bicycle for a good cause to join in the Tour de Habitat.
The tour will begin at the Dan Daniel Memorial Park in the city of Danville, VA. On site registration starts at 8:00 am. All rides start at 9:00 am. Please plan to ride rain or shine.
Youth under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult!
All riders are encouraged to carry ID, emergency contact information and a cell phone.
All riders are required to wear a helmet!

Registration Fees
      Pre-registration $30.00 per rider
      Day of event registration $40 per rider

Each registered rider will receive a free t-shirt, a cue sheet with detailed route information, rest stops, snacks, lunch prepared by sag support.
Routes: There will be a route to match riders different skill levels. Each route explores a different area of the scenic Dan River Valley. All rides will start at Shelter # 17 and travel through various areas of the city and county. Shorter routes will stay on the paved River Trail following the Dan River as it winds through scenic Southern Virginia. The longer rides will pedal through historic downtown Danville and escape onto idyllic quiet country roads of the rolling Dan River Region.

Teams: A team can be a group of four or more riders from a family, church group, business, friends, bike or walking club. Be creative and create your own team. Write your name on your registration form for special recognition.


Think about safety when riding.....always wear a helmet.....it could save your life!

The rider that raises the most money will stay at the beautiful Doe Run Lodging

One of the best kept secrets of the of the Blue Ridge Parkway is Doe Run Lodging at Groundhog Mountain. Doe Run is located between Meadows of Dan and Fancy Gap Virginia at an elevation of almost 3,000 feet. The community offers wonderful accommodations with awesome views of the Piedmont Region. The Parkway provides many scenic opportunities for cycling, hiking,and relaxation. Local attractions include Mabry Mill, Chateau Morrissette Winery and Restaurant, and many golf courses. All proceeds will go to help fund a home for a local family. The family is in need of a decent place to live in the Danville community. Your registration fee and pledges collected will help fund the new home for the family. Thank you for your generous support.

Getting sponsorship is the most helpful way to make Tour de Habitat a success. Each participant is encouraged to raise money by asking others to pledge money to sponsor you as a rider. The rider raising the most money will win free nights lodging at Doe Run Lodging on the Parkway. Funds raised should be turned in the day of the ride. Make checks payable to DPC Habitat for Humanity.


Your donation helps to build hope and change lives with families in need of simple, affordable, decent homes. The list to the right shows how even a small donation can make a big difference for a family in need.
